Memories...
This week's school supply specials!
Thinking of school make me thing of tv shows from my childhood.
Down Memory Lane:
The Wonder Years
Kevin Arnold - The Narrator: When you're a little kid you're a bit of everything; Scientist, Philosopher, Artist. Sometimes it seems like growing up is giving these things up one at a time.
Growing Pains
Maggie Katherine Malone Seaver: Carol, how dare you disobey us!
Jason: I never thought I would ever say that but Carol Ann Seaver, you're grounded.
Carol: Wait...
Maggie Katherine Malone Seaver: No explanations. You are not getting a nose job.
Carol: I know.
Jason: What?
Carol: I'm not getting a nose job.
Jason: Don't confuse us by agreeing with us, Carol.
Family Ties
Steven: Alex, parents are conditioned to put up with a few minor accidents when they leave their children home alone. A broken vase, spilt milk on the rug... There was a kangaroo... in my living room.
Alex P. Keaton: ...He was just here for the party dad.
Steven: Then I guess I'm overreacting.
Family Matters
Steve Urkel: You're safe now, Missy.
Laura: Thank you, Steve. Now, I'm gonna give you a compliment. But, it's only a compliment and it doesn't mean anything more than that.
Steve Urkel: Oh, I understand.
Laura: You did good.
Steve Urkel: You love me, don't you?
ALF
Kate: Don't break that remote.
ALF: Kate, have I ever broken anything?
[Kate stares at him]
ALF: Well, lately?
[pause]
ALF: This week?
[pause]
ALF: Today?
[pause]
ALF: Since breakfast?
Perfect Strangers
Balki Bartokomous: Well, of course not, don't be ridi-cool-us.
Dinosaurs
Baby Sinclair: Not the mama!
Full House
Michelle: May I have your cupcake, please?
Steph: No, you may not.
Michelle: But I was polite and I said please.
Steph: I was polite, too. I said, No, you may not.
Michelle: Guess what? Politeness Week is over. Give me that!
[Michelle grabs Stephanie's cupcake and runs off, followed by Stephanie]
Steph: How rude.
M*A*S*H
Frank Burns: Spontaneity has its time and its place.
Patient: You're a kid.
Douglas 'Doogie' Howser: True, but I'm also a genius. If you have a problem with that I can get you someone who's older but not as smart as me
And more memories for you 80's (and before) babies can be found here.

Baraka...
So I have yet to go to Cornerstone but I just found out Aradhna was there this year! There are some videos from the festival here.
My favs are:
Aradhna
Tea House
I love having a Bible Club in my neighborhood. It is great to get to know more of the kids and the leaders, from Texas, are great I love talking with kids about Jesus. They are so inquisitive and eager to share and learn. I love my neighborhood! I love how God guides our steps.
Today I was hanging out with some kids while there mom's were being taught English. I was asking around to find out what languages they speak and learned one of them is Swahili. I was trying to remember which songs we sing at NCF are Swahili and decided to just start singing one to see if I was right. When the mom's came to get their kids I greeted them: Jambo! and started singing Baraka Za Mungu. "Yes!" That song is in Swahili and most of the mom's knew it so we sang it together! Very cool!
Here are the words- I couldn't find the song to listen to online but I'd sing it for you if you'd like! :)
Baraka za Mungu kweli ni za?
(What is the Lord's blessing?)
Ni za ajabu
(It is a mystery)
Baraka za Mungu kweli ni za?
(What is the Lord's blessing?)
Ni za ajabu
(It is a mystery)
Zaweza kwenda juu (It can go up)
Zaweza kwenda chini (It can go down)
Zaweza kwenda mbele (It can go in front)
Zaweza kwenda nyuma (It can go behind)
Upande, upande (It can go all around)
Kwa mataifa yote (to all the nations)
Upande, upande (It can go all around)
Kwa mataifa yote (to all the nations)
Upendo wa Mungu kweli ni wa?
(What is the Lord's love?)
Amani ya Mungu kweli ni ya?
(What is the Lord's peace?)
Enjoy listening to and reading the translation of some praise songs in Swahili here.
Ephesians 1:3
Atukuzwe Mungu na Baba wa Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo! Maana, katika kuungana na Kristo ametubariki kwa kutujalia zawadi zote za kiroho mbinguni.

Meme: (\ˈmēm\ ) noun - an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture
Angela (anngeeelaaa) - memed me. I had no idea what that meant til the wonderful world of Wikipedia and Merriam-Webster helped me out.
Here are the rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Seven Facts
1. I'm pretty gullible and sometimes slow on the uptake . For example, last night at my housechurch some phase about a canary in a coal mine came up.
I was so confused becuase I could not figure why a canary would fly into a coal mine. Plus, I usually just verbalize my thinking, making for some good laughter.
2. My nickname growing up was Fizz becuase I was so hyper. I love recieving nicknames. I actually prayed for that when I started college cause I didn't have many growing up. Now I have a bunch of nicknames: Tbones, Tstank (from coming back from Calcutta and being to tired of washing my clothes near the end of the trip. I smelled pretty bad), T, Trademark, Tan Tan, Tdawg, Tlove,...
3. I buy a lot of used books on Amazon.com but rarely read them all the way through, and if I lend them out I never remember who I leant them to. So whoever has my books... enjoy.
4. My car fits my personality. I can be careless. I have two huge dents in it where one, I ran into a cement pole and another, where I hit a curb instead of hitting a guy that pulled out in front of me.
I love kids. I have stuffed animals in my car for kids to play with, or adults who still have kid-ish-ness in them. I have a bunch of children's books in my car, too.
Finally, I do a lot of praying and crying (and screaming when needed) to God in my car- more than anywhere else. I guess that might be scary for you other drivers out there , but it is true. I started doing that when I was an RA in college becuase I couldn't really get alone with God in my dorm.
5. I am learning I really enjoy tutoring/teaching one-on-one: elementary age kids, people in need of learning English, piano lessons, etc. In the future I may possibly give trumpet lessons...hmmmm...
6. I love having my days filled up with a bunch of different activities, mostly involving people, but then after a while (a few weeks or so) I might burn out and want to just hide in my room for a while.
7. I really really really enjoy thrift stores and free stuff and dumpster diving. I don't like buying anything at full price if I can avoid it.
Now, I meme Sarah ,Kirk, Manuela, Claire, Nathan, Drea, and Joanna .

SCLT & IRWP (sleeping cats like tacos) & (invent races with popsicles)
I guess I should be cramming before my test but blogging will give my brain a little break
So this final is on Spirit, Church, and Last Things... a great course taught by Dr. Robert Peterson at Covenant Seminary. One of the main things I like about his teaching is how any person, from any Christian denomination could, I believe, sit in his class an appreciate what is has to say. He cares deeply about creating unity and showing love, even though there may be disagreesments, in the Christian community.
In other news, I just got involved with Immigrant & Refugee Women's Program this week. I'm so excited! I'm going to be teaching English to a woman from Bosnia whom I just met today. They are always in need of more volunteers so feel free to check them out and join in. They already have all the lesson plans put together and supply all we need for being able to teach - they are super organized- which is wonderful because I'm not!! (Guys, if you are interested I'm sure they could help connect you with guys.)
What do you need to be a volunteer teacher?
A caring heart
Patience
The desire to "Change a Life...One Woman at a Time"
The commitment to work with your student one hour, twice a week
IRWP will provide all materials, lesson plans, training, a Curriculum Coordinator and Liaison Teachers who provide additional support.
Call 314-771-1104 for more information or to schedule an orientation.
Ok.. off to continue to cram...

Fear vs. Freedom
So yesterday I was struggling to keep perspective...ok, I struggle most days, to be honest. I can get caught up with forgetting that God is good and is at work. This encouraged me- that though things are looking crazy in the world from a human perspective, God is on his throne! I can understand why people, even Christians, are tempted to shut themselves off from the world and ignore the massive amounts of suffering. I'm tempted to as well- there is so much pain and if I don't have a perspective that God is sovereign over it, I feel like I might as well just try hide away from it all!
Anyway, about the picture...I come back to this book again and again. I was driving to South Dakota about three years ago and thinking about the lessons that Pastor Barry taught on Sonship. Rose Marie Miller's testimony was among the material. I remember reading that she lived in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Just for fun, I called information and asked for Jenkintown, PA and for Rose Marie Miller. They connected me and she answered her phone! I told her how important her testimony was too me and how it had encouraged me so deeply. She was very kind and told me she would send me her book and bible study. (Unfortunately, I can't find the bible study online.) She also encouraged me to come to London for the Prayer and Evangelism conference. I honestly doubted I'd ever get to go, but last summer I did! Wow!!
This book helps remind me of the freedom I have in Christ, not to live as an orphan but as a daughter that is delighted in. This is not because of my performance but because of what Christ has done for me. My heart needs to be reminded of again and again!!
Blessings!
